If you practice Powerlifting, you've probably seen many people in the gym around you wearing powerlifting belts. In reality, belts are common throughout the world of weightlifting, from classic weightlifting and beyond. But what exactly are powerlifting belts for? Before looking at our best models, it’s worth answering this question. Many people think that powerlifting belts are used to "lock" the back and protect it from reckless movements. However, this is not quite the case, and you’ll quickly discover that the back remains free to move when wearing one of these weightlifting belts. Powerlifting belts are actually used to create intra-abdominal pressure, thereby increasing the pressure within the abdomen. And why compress the abdominal cavity? Simply put, this condition helps achieve greater stability. For the belt to be effective, it needs to be tightened so that it can effectively counteract the abdominal expansion that occurs when lifting weights. So, that’s the purpose of belts in the world of weightlifting. But what about the Powerlifting belts by Lacertosus®?
Weightlifting and Powerlifting Belts
On this page, we present essentially two types of weightlifting belts. The first, which we might call an entry-level belt, is the Training belt: a basic Weightlifting belt for training. The true powerlifting belt by Lacertosus® is the Powerlifting Pro belt, made from high-quality leather with reassuring specifications: it has a thickness of 10 millimeters and a height of 10 centimeters. It is secured around your waist with a convenient and practical roller buckle that allows for easy and quick fastening. It’s worth noting that this belt’s features comply with the rules of major powerlifting federations. On this page, for completeness, we’ve also included other essential powerlifting accessories, such as knee sleeves and braces. The knee sleeves are used to assist the joints when they are under significant stress during lifts; the braces, on the other hand, are designed to keep the knee warm and ensure good blood circulation.
