Training Sleds
Training SledsTraining sleds are essential tools for anyone looking to improve strength, coordination, and speed while adding variety to their workouts. From sports fields to gyms, these versatile pieces of equipment have evolved to meet the needs of athletes across all disciplines, from Cross Training to weightlifting and team sports.
Training sleds to improve strength and coordination
No reindeer here—we’re not talking about Santa’s sleigh. Instead, we’re talking about heavy sleds: no presents, just all the Olympic plates you’re able to move! Pulled, dragged, or pushed, sleds are gym equipment that have become practically ubiquitous: we see them in gyms during workouts, on sports fields for athlete training, and even in elite competitions. They come in various sizes, shapes, and designs. Naturally, training sleds made their way into the Cross Training world straight from the working world, more specifically from Scandinavian lumberjacks who relied on large sleds to drag felled logs back home through fields and forests—not exactly an easy task. While sleds used to be tools exclusive to lumberjacks, today they are indispensable for weightlifters, soccer players, rugby players, sprinters, and more. Training sleds allow you to build strength, improve arm-leg coordination, increase acceleration, and—let’s face it—break the routine by stepping away from barbells and rigs for a while. The possible exercises are countless: you can do pulling repeats—sled rows—with one or two arms while walking backward; you can do bear crawls, getting on all fours and pulling the sled with a harness; and you can sprint, pushing the sled while leaning as far forward as possible. These are just a few examples of the many exercises you can perform with training sleds!
Prowler sleds for the gym
What are Lacertosus® training sleds like? We’re obviously talking about sleds of the highest quality. For those looking for a simple training sled, we’ve created our classic base model, complete with a harness and a loading pin for Olympic plates—plates with a 50mm center hole. This is a durable, stable, and long-lasting structure—Heavy Duty—designed to withstand years of intense training. We know sleds have become a must-have for every gym, but we also know they are relatively bulky; that’s why our base model features a foldable loading pin to minimize the footprint of the training sled when it’s not in use. Want something even more versatile and robust? Then you should check out our Prowler Power Sled, a multifunctional sled that can be used on any surface, from concrete to natural grass. It’s basically a tank!
